1st Barak Valley Women’s Conclave-2022 on 26th February

Conclave on “Empowering Women of Barak Valley through Education: Prospects and Challenges”

9th Mile, Khanapara, Ri Bhoi, February 23, 2022: Employment opportunities is shrinking nowadays and as Barak Valley is somewhat isolated from Assam, opportunities for employment is too less here. Women here face very many difficulties regarding educational and economic progression and they must be empowered through education. It is rightly said — if you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a generation and a nation. Education is an integral part of every individual’s life but when girls are educated, countries become stronger and prosperous.

With a vision to encourage them for educational uplift, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya and ERD Foundation Guwahati has initiated to hold the 1st Barak Valley Women’s Conclave-2022 on Saturday, 26th February at Khairun Nessa Begum Women’s College (KBWC), Bardarpur. The Conclave is being jointly organized by KBWC Badarpur and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya and is supported by Vision 50 Academy.

The Conclave is going to be attended by a cross section of women including professors, teachers, doctors, lawyers, social workers and others. Several distinguished women from different walks of life will grace the occasion and enlighten the participants. Awards will be conferred upon several successful women from different disciplines in the Conclave as a mark of honour and recognition.

Speaking in this context, Shri Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM and Chairman of ERDF said, “Educated women can help in their children’s education without taking outside support. During the pandemic we have seen that those children whose mothers are educated could manage their studies while for those having illiterate mothers the situation became too tough to be addressed. So at times of crisis, the education of the woman matters a lot for the family as well as for the society. Women should feel that they are equally strong to run the family.” The main objective of the Conclave is thus to empower women of the region through education and thus contribute to the nation building process.
